This Dispatches investigated shocking institutional abuse and neglect at specialist dementia care homes run by Bupa, one of the UK’s biggest names in healthcare.
An undercover reporter, working for three months as a care assistant at Bupa’s Crawfords Walk Care Home uncovered evidence of cruelty, neglect and institutional abuse. Despite Bupa’s promises to provide person-centered, high quality care, covert footage captured evidence of elderly residents with dementia being left in soiled clothes, woken up for bed baths 3:30am, and taken out of bed from 6am by over-stretched and under-resourced care staff.
