With rape convictions at an all-time low, this hard-hitting film spends two years behind the scenes with Avon and Somerset Constabulary as they investigate serious sexual crime: from the initial reports to right through the criminal justice process.
The film is about rape and serious sexual violence and the difficulties of bringing perpetrators to court. Our cameras follow the work of Avon and Somerset Police as they investigate rape and serious sexual assault. The film seeks to dispel myths and stereotypes about rape and serious sexual crimes and examines how the criminal justice system fails victims. The film shows how reports of rape are at an all time high while convictions have never been lower. The film shows how only 20% of victims report to the police and that the majority regret doing so. The film follows the cases of four women and examines the complexity in progressing a case to the CPS for a charge.
