In a television first, cameras have been allowed inside a women’s refuge to follow the stories of three women who have agreed to be identified.
Narrated by Julie Waters – a campaigner against domestic abuse – the film follows the refuge’s struggle to survive. It is one of just over 300 in England and Wales, with one in six having closed in the past eight years, despite the government’s commitment to tackling domestic abuse.
